on Friday stated that between January and February of this year, environmental management instruments were registered for 28 mining exploration projects involving US$1.036 billion.
"We have good news. Last year was a surprise because we closed with US$644 million in environmental management instruments for mining exploration projects," Montero said in remarks to
Andina News Agency.
"But in January and February of this year alone, we already have (registered) US$1.036 billion in environmental management instruments for 28 exploration projects," he added.
The government official emphasized that this figure is a major milestone because if such strength and speed are maintained in the first two months, a record for mining exploration projects will surely be reached in Peru throughout 2025.
"Over the last 10 years, until 2023, Peru's mining exploration investment ranged between US$450 million and US$500 million," he noted.
Peru's Participation at PDAC 2025
"The most important aspect was the presence of the Peruvian delegation, with over 300 national businesspeople and companies actively participating at PDAC," he stated.
"Over three days —Sunday, March 2; Monday, March 3; and Tuesday, March 4— we held 35 group and bilateral meetings with mining companies and governments," Montero recalled.
"It was an intense and fruitful effort, and what I value most is the opportunity PDAC gave us to communicate our messages, intentions, and the need for everyone in Peru to work together to move our country forward. This took place in several forums in a democratic and transparent manner," he added.
