The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Tuesday morning affirmed that teamwork is the only way to face the country's problems and meet the needs of Peruvian citizens.

During the inauguration of the 17th GORE-Executive meeting, the Head of State indicated that only by standing united will the closing of historic gaps be better faced.

"We have come to work as a team; the only way to solve the country's problems is to bring the State wherever the needs are," Mr. Castillo emphasized.

After highlighting the role of governors and mayors during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Head of State underscored that those authorities had shown that goals can be fulfilled if unity prevails.

Furthermore, the dignitary reminded attendees that major reforms will not only be achieved by the Executive Branch. The participation of subnational governments is also necessary in this task, he noted.

Since the beginning of his term in office, a greater approach between governors and mayors has been enabled thanks to Decentralized Councils of Ministers so that these authorities stop knocking on doors or lining up at ministries as in previous years, he said.

Moreover, the top official mentioned that there is a clamor in the country regarding the frontal fight against corruption that must be carried out as an authority.

In his speech, the President indicated that ministers are always under evaluation. He also asked governors and mayors not to hesitate to denounce wrongdoings if they find any objective evidence of corruption.
