FTA boosted Chinese vehicle sales in Peru

00:30 | Shenzhen (China), Jun. 28.

The Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with China has been a significant driver of Chinese vehicle sales in Peru, offering competitive prices, quality, and equipment that attract consumers looking for an excellent quality-price ratio, Automotive Association of Peru (AAP) Chairman Karsten Kunckel reported.

Kunckel is part of the official delegation that accompanies President Dina Boluarte on a State Visit to the People's Republic of China.

This visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations and foster foreign investment in Peru's strategic sectors.

Kunckel's inclusion in this mission underscores the importance of the automotive industry in Peruvian-Chinese trade relations.

According to the AAP, around 25% of light vehicles sold in Peru come from China, proving the constant growth and advances in safety and technology of Chinese brands key factors in Peruvian buyers' preference.

During the official trip, the delegation participates in various activities, highlighting the visit to the BYD plant one of the main Chinese automotive companies.

"This visit underlines the interest in exploring and fostering collaboration with leading companies in automotive innovation and technology," Kunckel said prior to the visit.
