The Peruvian Government expresses its condemnation and deep concern over the dangerous escalation of conflict in the Middle East, which seriously affects international peace and security, following Israel's recent airstrikes on the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday, Peru is issued a new and urgent call to the parties in conflict, demanding the need to impose an immediate ceasefire and the initiation of a dialogue and negotiation process to avoid unleashing unpredictable consequences for the region and the world.

"The Peruvian Embassy in Türkiye is ready to assist our fellow citizens residing in the Islamic Republic of Iran, as are other Peruvian diplomatic missions in the region," the statement indicated.

On Friday, Israel bombed missile manufacturing facilities in Iran, prompting condemnation from several countries in the region and calls for restraint from the West.

Following this incident, the Israeli Army announced the end of its response against Iran in retaliation "for months of continuous attacks by the regime in Iran against the State of Israel."

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Daniel Hagari said in a statement that the IDF carried out "targeted and precise strikes" against military targets in Iran "thwarting immediate threats to the State of Israel," less than four hours after an earlier announcement by the Israeli military reported the start of those strikes.
