Yanacocha, one of Newmont's flagship mines, is fostering an innovative water potabilization and supply project that will transform the region's reality.
"This effort will ensure that the lack of water will no longer be a problem for the population of Cajamarca. It includes the construction of two water treatment plants, whose combined area is equivalent to three-quarters of Manhattan Island in New York," he stated.
According to the ambassador, this commitment reinforces Newmont's vision that the social license in Cajamarca is intrinsically linked to sustainable solutions for water access.
The diplomat also stated that this important advancement opens the door to future projects in the region, including the possibility of resuming initiatives such as the Conga Mining Project.
This announcement reaffirms the Government's commitment to promoting megaprojects that drive sustainable development, improve the quality of life for communities, and strengthen Peruvian economic growth.
