Peru's FA Min: Trade and investment partnership with U.S. to expand under new government

Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer stated that the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States will strengthen the comprehensive partnership between the two countries in areas such as investment, trade, and the economy.

In remarks to reporters, the ambassador said President Dina Boluarte congratulated Trump on his election and predicted that it will be a very important era for deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership.

"The United States is a beacon of democracy, a beacon that provides us with great predictability in bilateral relations, (...) if there is any change, it will be for the better, to deepen and expand our economic relationship with the United States," he pointed out.

APEC Peru 2024

The Foreign Affairs minister indicated that the 21 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum members have confirmed their participation in the Leaders' Week, except for two. He reminded reporters that it is usual for large economies to confirm their participation later.

The diplomat also highlighted the commitment of regional governors and mayors to ensuring peace and tranquility during APEC Leaders' Week, which takes place next week.

"We all promote Peru through APEC; this is the commitment that has been forged at meetings with regional governors and mayors," he stated.

Minister Schialer pointed out that everything is under control for this important meeting.

He added that details were presented to the participating economies, all of which were very satisfied.
