Peru: Former FA Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi dies at 57

Former Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi passed away at the age of 57, it was reported on Sunday night.

Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzen expressed his dismay at the passing of the former government official, but avoided giving further details on the matter.

"I am shocked by the news. Ana Cecilia was a personal friend and an ambassador of the diplomatic service who provided services to the (Peruvian) State in a brilliant manner," he said in remarks to Punto Final investigative journalism TV program on Sunday night.

Via social media, ex-Foreign Affairs Minister Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea also deeply lamented the sudden death of Ana Cecilia Gervasi.

"I pray to the Creator to welcome her into eternal rest. I extend my heartfelt condolences to her family members," he expressed on the X platform.

Gervasi was a career diplomat and part of the Cabinet under President Dina Boluarte from December 10, 2022, to November 6, 2023.

She also held the position of Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister and served as Deputy Foreign Trade Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism.
