BCR: Peru's traditional exports up 11.2% in June 2024

13:22 | Lima, Aug. 19.

Peruvian exports of traditional products reached US$4.846 billion in June 2024, an interannual growth of 11.2%, the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported on Monday.

The BCR explained that this favorable performance was due to higher volumes of exported fishmeal (the fishing season was canceled last year) and the increase in prices of mining products and hydrocarbons.

In June, sales of mining products abroad rose by 3.1%, shipments of oil and natural gas increased by 8.5%, agricultural goods grew by 30.7%, and fishery products expanded by 1,369.3%.

In the analyzed month, a significant interannual dynamism was observed in the volume of shipped fishmeal (+2,611.7%) and coffee (+78.5%). Additionally, the average price increased by 13.3% year-on-year.

During the first half of 2024, the export value of traditional products increased by 6.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, favored by improvements in prices and volumes of 3.6% and 2.6%, respectively.
