The Peruvian Government expressed its deep concern over the Israeli airstrikes on densely populated urban areas in southern Lebanon, which have caused numerous deaths and wounded, including women and children, in addition to the displacement of thousands of civilians.
In a statement posted on social media on Thursday evening, the
Peruvian Foreign Affairs Ministry said our
country stands in solidarity with the families of innocent victims and calls on the parties to ensure the protection of civilians, without any distinction or discrimination.
Given the deterioration of security conditions in the Middle East as the cycle of violence that was triggered on October 7, 2023, continues to expand, the Peruvian Government reiterates the need to achieve a negotiated solution that allows for the cessation of hostilities in the region, the release of hostages, and unrestricted access to humanitarian aid for the civilian population.
At least 92 people have died and 153 others have been wounded due to the intense Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon over the past 24 hours, which have been focused on the eastern and southern areas of that country, but have also targeted Beirut's southern suburbs, international news agencies reported.
