In May 2024, national production grew 5.04% compared to the same month last year, driven by positive performance across almost every sector, with the exception of Finance and Insurance, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported on Monday.

Thus, the Peruvian economy continues its recovery process, accumulating its second consecutive expansion in the fifth month of 2024.

Last May, the contribution of the Manufacturing sector stood out, followed by those of Fishing; Other Services; Transportation, Storage, and Courier; Construction; and Commerce. They jointly accounted for 81% of the global result for the analyzed month.

Next in importance are Mining and Hydrocarbons; Farming; Public Administration and Defense; Services Provided to Companies; Electricity, Gas, and Water; Accommodation and Restaurants; plus Telecommunications.

The INEI indicated that productive activity grew 2.94% during the first five months of 2024 (January to May).

Likewise, the economy rose 0.83% over the last twelve months (June 2023 to May 2024).

Thus, Peru's economy continues its recovery process, having grown 2.38% during the first four months of 2024 and showing an annualized growth of 0.30% as of April.

Additionally, Peru has expanded in four of the past five months in 2024.
