The
on Tuesday supervised progress on Callao Port's Northern Dock expansion works, a project that will make this terminal the most modern and efficient for handling grains in Latin America.
With an investment of US$95 million and a progress of over 60%, this ambitious venture represents a milestone in Peruvian port infrastructure.
"As a Government, this year we will continue creating the conditions for private investment to continue betting on Peru," Mrs. Boluarte underscored during the visit.
The project —developed by APM Terminals— involves the construction of 12 state-of-the-art vertical silos with a total capacity of 60,000 tons of clean grain each, as well as the installation of two continuous unloaders that will drastically reduce vessel unloading times.
These innovations, combined with improvements in the access area for general cargo, will increase the terminal's operational capacity from 25,000 to 85,000 tons, positioning the Callao Port as a benchmark in logistics efficiency.
During her tour of the facilities, Mrs. Boluarte highlighted the strategic importance of this project to ensure the country's food security and strengthen Peruvian foreign trade competitiveness.
With the completion of the works scheduled for the first half of 2025, Callao Port will consolidate its position as the most advanced grain terminal in South America, marking a turning point in Peru's goods management.
This achievement is the outcome of collaboration between the public and private sectors, a formula that the Government considers key to boosting economic development and job creation.
The administration's pledge to private investment in critical infrastructure underlines its commitment to Peru's sustainable growth. Projects like this not only boost the local economy but also position the country as a competitive player in global trade.
