and Chinese company North Industries Corp (Norinco) on Tuesday signed an agreement for the acquisition of two state-of-the-art drones featuring a three-dimensional (3D) cartographic processing system and night surveillance intended for the Army.
These unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will enable military personnel to carry out dual intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance actions against illicit activities, as well as assist in terms of risk and disaster management.
The drones feature high night and day definition that will enable surveillance and reconnaissance operations to be carried out at any time, while their three-dimensional cartographic processing system will facilitate the creation of high-precision maps in complex terrain.
Training and technology transfer
The agreement includes the training, over the course of three weeks divided into four stages, of 20 Armed Force members in the use of GPS and the Chinese BeiDou navigation system, as well as UAVs maintenance and accessories, programmatic training and field practice, topographic and cartographic principles, plus operation of aerial image maps.
This event also saw the presence of Army General Commander Cesar Briceño Valdivia, among other authorities.
It was held at the Army headquarters in Lima's San Borja district.
