The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) stated that it expects to process Environmental Management Instruments (EGIs) for 41 mining exploration projects this year, which would allow for generating US$804 million in investments.

Likewise, the government agency plans to process the preliminary consultation for 14 exploration projects, as well as exploration authorization requests for 29 projects.

On the other hand, Minem stated that the development of its Mining Exploration Projects Portfolio shows positive development for this year, as it is estimated that the projected investment figure for 2025 in this sector will exceed US$1.039 billion, Minister Jorge Montero announced.

During his participation at the PDAC 2025 Convention, held in Toronto, Canada, the government official noted that the preliminary figures for the 2025 Mining Exploration Projects Portfolio include the execution of 84 investment initiatives, nine more than those outlined in the previous year.

Similarly, the estimated investment figure (US$1.039 billion) for exploration in 2025 is approximately 75% higher than the amount reported in 2024.

Last year, a total of 75 projects were registered with investments amounting to US$644 million, which confirms that Peru's mining sector is experiencing significant growth.

As an example of the importance that Peru holds in the global mining sector, Minister Montero led the opening ceremony of the 2025 Inter-sessional Meeting of the Mines Ministries of the Americas Conference (CAMMA) -an event led by Peru and held within the framework of PDAC 2025.

Likewise, the Cabinet member participated in the 10th International Summit of Mining Ministers, speaking at the conference "Discovering the Minerals of Tomorrow: Accelerating Discovery and Production."

There, he underscored the importance of enhancing geological studies and accelerating the formalization of small-scale mining.

Within the framework of PDAC 2025, the Peruvian minister met with France's Delegate for Strategic Mineral Supplies, Benjamin Gallezot, and Advisor on Critical Metals and Energy Transition, Antoine Babonneau, to discuss bilateral cooperation on strategic metals.

Additionally, along with Economy-Finance Minister Jose Salardi, he met with executives from mining companies listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange & TSX Venture Exchange.

This took place within the framework of the symposium "A Capital Opportunity," where he highlighted these companies' interest in continuing to invest and develop businesses in Peru.

"The Government is making significant efforts to simplify bureaucracy and manage the social aspect more effectively (...) the mining industry's growth in Peru is a joint effort between the public and private sectors, and it is the Government's responsibility to improve the regulations to attract investments and close gaps," he concluded.
