reported that metallic mining production of copper (6.9%), silver (4.5%), iron (3.1%), tin (0.3%), and molybdenum (24%) increased in January 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, highlighting the great potential of natural resources.
Regarding national copper production in the first month of 2025, a 6.9% growth was observed compared to January 2024, due to the higher production levels at Las Bambas and Anglo American Quellaveco.
Regarding national silver production, a 4.5% increase was recorded in January compared to the same month in 2024, thanks to the higher volume concentrated by Compañia de Minas Buenaventura (Buenaventura Mining Company) at its "Acumulacion Yumpag" Mining Unit.
At the mining company level, Compañia Minera Antamina (Antamina Mining Company) established itself as the largest silver producer, accounting for 11.3% of national production.
At the regional level, Lima ranked first with 19.9% of the total, followed by Ancash (16.1%) and Pasco (15.9%).
Meanwhile, national iron production recorded a 3.1% increase compared to the same month in 2024.
Shougang Hierro Peru and Minera Shouxin Peru, whose operations are located in Ica, remain the only iron producers in the country, contributing 99.4% and 0.6%, respectively.
As for national tin production, it increased by 0.3% in January 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, due to the performance of Minsur and its "San Rafael" Mining Unit in Puno region.
National molybdenum production saw a 24% increase compared to the same month in 2024.
At the mining company level, Southern Peru Copper Corporation led the production ranking with 44%, while at the regional level, Tacna ranked first, followed by Moquegua and Arequipa.
