Likewise, the dignitaries welcomed the upcoming meeting of the presidents of Peru and Chile, within the framework of the
APEC Peru 2024 Leaders' Summit
.

Ambassador Schialer stressed Peru's interest in convening, in the short term, bilateral mechanism meetings to contribute to coordination and cooperation in matters of defense and security, as well as to the fight against transnational organized crime.

Furthermore, the Peruvian government official met with his counterpart of Trinidad and Tobago, Amery Browne. During the event, Minister Schialer underscored Peru's interest in strengthening bilateral relations.

He highlighted Trinidad and Tobago's generous response to Peru's request for 100 units of immunoglobulin to treat Guillain-Barré cases.

Both authorities welcomed the recent signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the Establishment of the Political Consultation Mechanism between the two countries.

He also said that Peru is interested in holding the first meeting in 2025.

During a meeting of Ibero-American Foreign Affairs Ministers, the Peruvian diplomat applauded the initiatives of the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) that strengthen Ibero-American values and culture, as well as the flow of bi-regional cooperation, including towards middle-income countries.

Similarly, he welcomed the appointment of new Ibero-American Deputy Secretary, Ambassador Jose Federico Ludovice.

Moreover, the Peruvian official spoke with Ibero-American Secretary General Andres Allamand to whom he assured that our country will be represented at the highest possible level at the next SEGIB summit in Cuenca, Ecuador.

At the Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) with the European Union, Ambassador Schialer expressed that Peru places great value on this relationship that must be consolidated as a renewed strategic partnership.

The diplomat said that the initiative should be based on very specific projects. Therefore, he proposed prioritizing the joint fight against organized crime, particularly drug trafficking, as one of its pillars.

He also thanked the delegations for having supported the candidacy of former Foreign Affairs Minister Jose Antonio García Belaunde for the EU-LAC Foundation Presidency, presented by Peru last July, as proof of the commitment to bi-regional integration.
