Foreign Affairs Minister Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea underscored that, during the recent State visit to China, both the Asian country's Government and companies offered increased technical cooperation to Peru.

"I underline 'increased' because they practically affirmed that they already had plans to offer non-reimbursable technical cooperation, namely technology transfer, knowledge dissemination, training in Peru, or the possibility of hosting workers and students at their facilities to receive these benefits and enhance their expertise level," he indicated.

Within this framework, the government official said the city of Shenzhen was chosen as first destination of the official visit because it is China's most important digital technology center.

Minister Gonzalez-Olaechea described as impressive what was observed during the visit to the Huawei company facilities and the BYD automotive field.

In this regard, he indicated that the automotive company's businesspeople expressed the possibility, as in two other Latin American countries, of setting up an assembly plant in Peru.

The minister stated that at all meetings within the framework of this official visit, discussions were held regarding the possibility of obtaining increased investment from China's Government or companies.

"On this matter, there was nothing but a positive reception, very promising statements, some very specific regarding the next steps to increase existing investments or for companies that will begin their prospecting activities to evaluate and, surely, commit further investments in Peru," he underscored.

Similarly, Gonzalez-Olaechea highlighted that China's President, Xi Jinping, was very specific regarding the fight against corruption as a priority for his country, which he emphasized is in line with the priority of President Boluarte's Government.

The minister indicated that what was mentioned about the official trip to the Asian country is properly documented.

Moreover, he took the opportunity to thank Peru's Congress for authorizing President Boluarte to travel abroad in order to honor the invitation issued by her Chinese counterpart.

This event took place at the Government Palace in the Peruvian capital, Lima.
