APEC Peru 2024: Canada's PM arrives in Lima

The Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau arrived in the Peruvian capital, Lima, on Thursday night to participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Week currently underway.

The Canadian dignitary was received at Callao Air Base by Peruvian Labor and Employment Promotion Minister Daniel Maurate, on behalf of the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte.


"Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that he will participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Economic Leaders' Meeting in Lima, Peru, and the G20 Leaders' Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil," it was announced through the Canadian Embassy's official account on X.

APEC Economic Leaders' Week is the culmination of the APEC Peru 2024 Presidency year and is being held from November 9 to 16 in Lima.

The Presidents of the United States, Joe Biden; the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping; and South Korea, Yoon Suk-yeol already arrived in Lima to participate in the forum. 

Following Prime Minister Trudeau's arrival, other dignitaries, including the Prime Minister of Japan, Shigeru Ishiba; and the President of Chile, Gabriel Boric, among others, landed in the Peruvian capital to join the APEC Leaders' Week, which ends on Saturday.

Peru is hosting APEC for the third time after the 2008 and 2016 editions.
