From Apurimac, where she took part in an activity of the Llamkasun program on Friday, President Dina Boluarte called on Peruvians in the upcoming elections to support the country's development, the strengthening of the economy, and more jobs for vulnerable people.

"We must support candidates who uphold the Constitution, who back democracy and the rule of law, and who do not take a leap into the void with failed states," she stated.

The top official said that the episodes of violence that occurred during the protests registered in December 2022 and January 2023 must not happen again.

Mrs. Boluarte added that democracy should be strengthened in the upcoming elections, “shutting the door” on those who promoted those events.

"We must embrace and care for one another as Apurimeños (Apurimac region citizens), as descendants of Tayta (Jose Maria) Arguedas and our Micaela Bastidas, and make Apurimac a brave, respectful, but above all, democratic region," she expressed.

Llamkasun program

As part of her speech, the president highlighted the efforts of the men and women of the Llamkasun program who built the main square of Los Ayllus de Tururo settlement in Ongoy district, Apurimac region, which was inaugurated today.

The Head of State emphasized that through public works like these, her government is overcoming the neglect of past administrations and is working to bring development to Peru's most remote areas.

"This Ongoy square is not only valuable because it bears the hands of brave men and women, but also because children can come here to play for a while, and even to read with enjoyment," she stated.

The top official also said the government listens to the voice of the people, mayors, regional governors, and organized women in order to keep moving forward.

Within this framework, Mrs. Boluarte said that she will continue supporting the Llamkasun program with funding so that more men and women, single mothers, and senior citizens can access temporary employment.

"We have conducted a nationwide survey to determine how many more projects remain to be carried out through Llamkasun, and I want to tell you that until the very last minute of my presidency, which is until July 28, 2026, this president will have guaranteed the highest budget for this program," she emphasized.
