The Peruvian Army indicated that successfully completed the reception and approval for 10,000 ARAD 7 assault rifles, caliber 7.62 x 51 mm, acquired from the Army's Weapons and Ammunition Factory S.A.C. (FAME S.A.C.).
The Minister of Defense, Walter Astudillo Chávez, visited the War Material Battalion No. 512 to mark the conclusion of the reception and approval process for the mentioned guns.
Astudillo emphasized that, after over a decade of failed attempts, the Peruvian Army has successfully modernized its arsenal with state-of-the-art weaponry, enhancing its operational capacity to meet international standards.
Renowned for their efficiency and reliability, the ARAD 7 rifles are used by special forces in various countries. Minister Astudillo also noted that this acquisition represents a significant milestone and a major achievement for the advancement of Peru’s Defense Industry.
The reception and approval process, carried out by the Army’s Reception and Approval Committee, included rigorous testing to ensure the rifles met the contract's specifications.
Additionally, the agreement with FAME S.A.C. provided, at no extra cost, 2,500 MEPRO 21 optical sights and 2,000 modernization kits to upgrade the Army’s Galil rifles (caliber 5.56 x 45 mm) to the Galil Ultra version, improving their maneuverability and operational efficiency.
The contract also included specialized technical personnel training and the establishment of a workshop for converting Galil rifles to the Galil Ultra version, further enhancing the Peruvian Army's capabilities.
