On Monday, President Dina Boluarte, accompanied by Cabinet ministers, presented the Government's strategy to tackle illegal mining.
Likewise, the Head of State reported that the Peruvian State missed out on collecting S/7.5 billion (US$2.1 billion) in tax revenue since 2023.
The top official convened today the heads of various branches of government, institutions, and business associations for a technical roundtable to draft a law to combat illegal mining.
She specified that this technical roundtable will work on the formalization process for 31,560 miners registered under the Comprehensive Mining Formalization Registry (Reinfo), on the implementation of labor rights for mining workers, and on drafting a law for small-scale and artisanal mining that serves the interests of workers, the environment, and the country.
