Peru's President: APEC 2024 highlighted our commitment to sustainable growth

The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Tuesday stated that the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum held recently in Peru underscored the country's global priority to foster sustainable growth.

These remarks were made during the inauguration of the hybrid renewable solar power plant in the city of Requena, Loreto region.

"The successful completion of APEC 2024 in our country has solidified our position and priority on the global stage as a State committed to fostering sustainable growth through the transition to clean energy sources like this one," she expressed.

Similarly, the top official took the opportunity to commend all Peruvians for demonstrating their patriotic spirit by being exemplary hosts throughout the forum.

"(Peru is) A country that has strengthened its image in the Asia-Pacific region and the world through the successful organization of APEC, showcasing unity and stability that position us as a reliable partner. The resilience we have demonstrated will attract more investment, foster economic growth, and create greater opportunities for more Peruvians," she pointed out.

Solar Power Plant

Regarding the hybrid renewable solar power plant in Requena, Mrs. Boluarte indicated that it represents modern infrastructure and a significant technological advancement, reflecting the Government's commitment and responsibility to every Peruvian.

"This plant, with 8 megawatts of peak power and 10 megawatt-hours of storage, is the largest solar microgrid in the country. Thanks to it, Requena will no longer depend on polluting fuels; instead, it will draw energy from the inexhaustible power from the sun," she added.

The Head of State also noted that with this new facility, the Amazon region positions itself at the forefront of energy transition.

"From Requena, as President, I declare to Peru that we stand tall, firm, and proud in our quest for the homeland’s development. Nothing and no one will break our spirit to work for our country," she concluded.
