praised the Japanese Government's decision to lift the tourist visa requirement for Peruvian citizens.
"Japan has announced that it has unilaterally lifted this requirement (visa) for holders of ordinary passports and for short-term visits, commonly known as tourist visits," Schialer said in remarks to RPP Noticias.
"This was announced by the Prime Minister (Shigeru) Ishiba during his official visit to the Government Palace yesterday (...) and it will take a couple of months to fully implement this in Japan's administrative and immigration systems," he added.
The ambassador expressed confidence that this "unilateral decision by Japan will soon be put into practice."
"We are grateful for the decision to lift the visa requirement for ordinary Peruvian passports," he expressed.
The diplomat recalled that Japan had suspended visa-free entry for Peruvians nearly 30 years ago.
Therefore, he expressed gratitude for the recent decision to lift the visa requirement for ordinary Peruvian passports.
"The Japanese immigration and internal administrative systems are highly efficient," Schialer indicated, expressing optimism that this decision could be implemented before March 2025.
However, he clarified that a specific date has yet to be set by Japanese authorities.
