Peru has been nominated in seven categories of the prestigious World Travel Awards, a contest that recognizes the best countries for their outstanding attractions and turns them a must-see for tourists worldwide.

The Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PromPerú) recently announced the nominations via social media.

"(It is) a recognition of the culture, gastronomy, activities, and tourist attractions that our country offers the world," Promperu noted on the X platform.

Of the seven categories, our country's nomination as the World's Leading Destination 2024, where it will seek to obtain the highest award, stands out.

Other important categories in which Peru has also been nominated, highlighting its tourism potential as well as cultural wealth, are: World's Leading Culinary Destination 2024; World's Leading Cultural Destination 2024; World's Leading Tourist Attraction 2024: Machu Picchu, World's Leading Green Destination 2024; World's Leading Cruise Destination 2024; World's Leading Tourist Board 2024.

"There are plenty of reasons to admire Machu Picchu, which is why it has been nominated once again at the World Travel Awards as 'World's Leading Tourist Attraction 2024,'" the institution expressed on Instagram.

The awards ceremony of the 31st international competition edition will take place in Madeira, Portugal, on November 24.
