on Friday affirmed that the presidential impeachment motion —submitted by a segment of Congress last Thursday— generates a situation of uncertainty concerning investments.
"Uncertainty is always a factor that tends to stop investments; whenever an impeachment motion is presented, it generates a situation of uncertainty and institutional fragility. We have already witnessed that in the past, and it is worrying (…)," he said in remarks to RPP radio and TV station.
The high-ranking official mentioned that the U.S dollar price rose one cent yesterday. According to the economist, it is not a coincidence that this happened at the same time that the aforementioned motion was being submitted.
The Cabinet member argued that —although this motion is unlikely to succeed— it generates instability, which is negative for the nation. Likewise, it contrasts with the spirit of consensus and agreements reached by the Executive and Legislative Branches regarding the
recently-approved Public Sector Budget Bill for Fiscal Year 2022.
"This does not seem reasonable to me; if we have concerted plans for next year, it seems contradictory to me that a motion of this type was raised," he added.
Faced with this context, the minister deemed it important to insist on concertation efforts and agreement on joint plans.
In addition, Francke pointed out the urgency of rejecting the expressions of violence that have been registered over recent days.
Lastly, he called for dialogue and debate without falling into a scenario of violence.
