Peru's Amazonia, northern beaches promoted at Vakanz fair in Luxembourg

14:59 | Luxembourg (Luxembourg), Jan. 24.

Amazonia natural attractions and the beautiful beaches in northern Peru were promoted at Vakanz' tourism fair in Luxembourg —an international event that gathers some 30,000 attendees and over 200 exhibitors from around the world.

Peru's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) —through its office in the Netherlands in coordination with tour operators and Air Europa airlines— promoted Peruvian tourist attractions, especially the Amazonia and beaches in the northern part of the country.

Among the attendees was Luxembourg Minister of Tourism Lex Delles, who tasted some traditional dishes of Peru and its national drink, Pisco.

During his visit, the Luxembourgian authority expressed interest in visiting the White Mountain Range in Ancash region.

PromPeru stressed the fact that Luxembourg is the richest country in the European Union, with a GDP per capita of €80,800 (about US$89,130).

It is considered to be one of a kind owing to its location at the heart of Europe, the multilingualism of its population, and its status as a Grand Duchy.

Around two-thirds of the Luxembourgian population take at least one leisure trip per year and spend about €3,200 (about US$3,529) when travelling to the Americas, which is seen as an attractive market for the promotion of incoming tourism.

At Vakanz —held on January 17-19— PromPeru aimed to strengthen the positioning of the Inca country in this important part of the European Union market, in order to attract high purchasing power travelers planning a longer stay in Peru.
