Agrarian Development and Irrigation Minister Angel Manero indicated that during the next official visit to be made by President Dina Boluarte to China the entry of Peruvian meat exports into the Chinese market will be sought.

"President Dina Boluarte is travelling to China in June; she will bring 28 points to be discussed with the Chinese president (Xi Jinping). We have managed to incorporate point number 29: meat exports to China," Manero indicated on Wednesday.

"Meat exports to China alone could generate $3-4 billion for Peru in the medium term," he added.

Previously, Manero indicated that the National Agricultural Health Service (Senasa) is working on procedures to ensure that Peru's poultry, pork, and beef production gets health certification and can be exported to the Chinese market.

Frozen chicken to Singapore

The minister also indicated that there is the possibility of exporting frozen chicken from Peru to Singapore, thanks to the advantage to be provided by the Chancay Megaport, which is set to begin operations in November this year.

"A few days ago, we had a meeting with Singapore's ambassador, and he told us something very important, which will help us, as a country, enter the Singaporean market to export frozen chickens," Manero indicated.

"Its main supplier is Brazil, but they have to make a tremendous journey to get to Singapore. Thanks to the Port of Chancay, we will be one step away," he added.

On the other hand, Manero called for more dissemination about the major irrigation projects that will start to be implemented, as well as the important issues that benefit small farming producers and the whole country.
