Peruvian Army General Commander Jorge Celiz held a protocol meeting with Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army James C. McConville and general commanders of armies in Europe and Asia during the 2019 Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.

This gathering helped strengthen friendship ties between the armies of the United States and Peru. Following the meeting, the officials reaffirmed the mutual support between both armies.

The Association of the United States Army (AUSA) is a nonprofit educational and professional development association serving the U.S. Army and supporters of a strong national defense. Besides, it organizes this meeting every year, bringing delegations from over 80 countries and 700 exhibitors together.

The activity enabled both armies to share their goals, which are focused on training military personnel through refresher courses in the U.S. in fields of defense, cybersecurity, and resources for defense on a strategic level, among others.

The Peruvian delegation was composed of Defense and Army Attaché at Peruvian Embassy in the U.S. Mario Risco Carmen, member of Peru's mission to the Organization of American States Luis Gutierrez, and Vice-Chairman of the Council of Delegates of the Inter-American Defense Board Carlos Castañeda, among others.
