Peru President satisfied with Venice Commission's opinion

16:15 | Lima, Oct. 15.

President Martin Vizcarra said on Tuesday that he is satisfied with the Venice Commission's opinion on the use of the confidence motion in constitutional reforms, and reiterated that the Executive Branch respects all institutions.

In this sense, the Head of State affirmed the consultative body's statement was consistent with the Government's expectations, saying the actions taken by his administration are subject to the provisions of the Constitution.

He remarked that when referring to the use of the confidence motion in constitutional reforms, "unusual" and "unconstitutional" are two different things, but the latter was not the case here.

Likewise, the top official recalled that the Executive Branch did not introduce a confidence motion specifically for the early general elections bill.

"Consequently, we accept the terms of the Venice Commission's report," he expressed.

Furthermore, the statesman affirmed his administration respects the decisions of the Public Ministry, Judiciary, and Constitutional Court.

His remarks were made after the inauguration of San Marcos University (UNMSM) Mental Health Center.
