Peru President: Education is key to development

12:07 | Tacna (Tacna region), Nov. 22.

Education is the key to the development of society, Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra affirmed on Friday in the southern city of Tacna, where he requested teachers to train schoolchildren so that they can become not only good students but also good citizens.

Within this framework, the Head of State indicated that his administration works to solve the country's problems, because they were chosen to change things around, as was the case with the political and justice reform the Executive Branch had introduced to Congress.

"The education sector is the key, the base, the foundation that supports the whole structure of a society; we will not get tired of making all the efforts to support education," he expressed.

Before students and teachers of Our Heroes of the Pacific War School, the top official recalled that this southern region relies on the best education indicators in the country.

In this sense, he said the challenge is to shape not only good students, but also good people, with values, respect for democracy, solidarity, transparency, honesty, and punctuality.

The statesman inaugurated the remodeled infrastructure belonging to the aforementioned educational institution —a work that was completed due to the Government's will and despite the difficulties it faced.

"There was a willingness to grant it a budget (…) in order to find a solution as we will continue to demand that the executed works are put at the service of the population," he concluded.
