Peru: Beneficiaries of Servir's Excellence Challenge program to create contact network

16:41 | Lima, oct. 14.

Over 300 public officials —recipients of Servir's Excellence Challenge program— will create a contact network in order to share their knowledge and improve State services for the benefit of Peruvians, Civil Service Authority (Servir) CEO Juan Jose Martinez announced Monday.

According to Martinez, this network will enable public officials to know each other, share information, work together, and generate additional knowledge that will improve services for citizens at the public institutions they work at.

According to Servir head, people are the key element in the State, even more than infrastructure, technology, and economic resources.

The Excellence Challenge Program —created by Servir in 2012— grants loans of up to US$150,000 to professionals who work in State-run institutions under any contracting modality and meet the requirements established by the law.

This loan-scholarship enables them to pursue a Master's degree or a doctorate.

Most recipients (75%) return to work in State-run institutions again after having studied at the best universities in the world such as MIT, Stanford University, Harvard University, and University of Oxford among others.

So far, 315 public officials from all over Peru have participated in the program.

The remarks were made during the "1st National Meeting of Excellence Challenge Program Recipients: Agents of Change for Public Administration, towards the Bicentennial," taking place in Miraflores district.
