Agriculture and Irrigation Minister Jorge Montenegro, in his capacity as representative of the Executive Branch, visits Lambayeque to coordinate —along with regional and local authorities— the implementation of measures to strengthen the health response to COVID-19 in this region of northern Peru.

The minister is expected to meet with members of the regional COVID-19 Command at the Peruvian Air Force headquarters.

The aim of the meeting is to harmonize efforts and work on joint strategies to combat the virus.

The event will be attended by Lambayeque Region Governor Anselmo Lozano as well as officials of the Health Ministry (Minsa) and the Social Health Insurance System (EsSalud).

Delivery of medical supplies

Afterwards, the government official will participate in the delivery of medical supplies consisting of 21,500 face masks, 12,000 N95 masks, 6,100 surgical gloves, 1,000 overalls, 2,870 pants, 7,150 pairs of disposable boots, 755 polycarbonate protection face shields, among other materials.

Likewise, the delivery includes drugs such as ivermectin, enoxaparin, rocuronium bromide, azithromycin, among others.

Financing of irrigation infrastructure works

On Saturday, Mr. Montenegro is expected to pay a visit to Zaña district in order to hand over 12 checks to the region's executing units with the aim of carrying out maintenance on drainage channels and drains.

These actions will benefit farming families across the region and will allow the creation of thousands of wages.
