The 7.5 magnitude earthquake that struck Peru's northern region of Amazonas has left at least 2,682 victims, 4,410 people affected, and 12 injured, as well as 975 dwellings damaged, 566 uninhabitable, and 151 destroyed, the
reported on Monday.

Additionally, 25 schools were affected, as well as 32 health centers, whereas one was destroyed. The shaking of the ground also affected 3 commercial establishments, 12 public offices, 13 community venues, and 26 religious temples, while 5 churches collapsed.
Similarly, 5,310 meters of roads were damaged, while 1,800 meters were destroyed.
The seismic event also caused damages in 2,650 meters of rural road, 7 bridges, 200 meters of irrigation canals, 1 reservoir, 2 viewpoints, 1 water inlet, 1 fishing landing stage, 1 aquaculture center, and 1 fishing station.
The statistics show figures for the regions of Amazonas, Loreto, San Martin, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Cajamarca, Ancash, Piura, and Lima.
The seismic event occurred at 05:52 a.m. (local time) at a depth of 131 km and its epicenter was located 98 km east of the town of Santa Maria de Nieva, in Nieva district (Condorcanqui province), near the border with Ecuador.
In addition, due to its large magnitude, it was also felt in Peruvian capital Lima and various cities across the country.
