Lima 2019: Peru's Martinez wins gold in men's individual Peruvian fronton

Kevin Martinez (PER) claimed the basque pelota gold medal to be crowned as the Lima 2019 Pan American Games champion in men's individual Peruvian fronton on Saturday.

Martinez, 17, defeated his Argentinean opponent Guillermo Osorio 2-0 (15-6, 15-11), who secured the silver medal.

The event took place at Villa Maria del Triunfo Sports Center, located in the district of the same name, in the presence of Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra.

The Head of State was joined by Lima 2019 Organizing Committee (COPAL) President Carlos Neuhaus.

To date, Peru has claimed 33 medals, including gold (10), silver (7), and bronze (16).
