IMF: Peru has macro-fiscal strength, capacity to attract new investments

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Wednesday highlighted Peru's macro-fiscal strengths, as well as its capacity to draw new investments aimed at fostering sustainable growth.

IMF First Deputy Managing Director Gita Gopinath also underscored the Peruvian economy's resilience.


Economy-Finance Minister Jose Arista met this morning with the IMF official to discuss fiscal policy issues and growth outlooks for Peru, the Ministry of Economy and Finance reported via X (formerly Twitter).

The participating teams at this meeting reaffirmed their commitment to continue working jointly on fiscal and climate change issues.


Forecasts


"Our projection is around 3.1%, matching with the Central Reserve Bank (BCR). However, internally, we are confident that this growth will be (higher) by a few percentage points," he said in remarks to TVPeru.
