U.S. President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. extended a warm invitation for the
President of the Republic Pedro Castillo to participate in the Ninth Summit of the Americas, to be held in Los Angeles, California (U.S.), Peru's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
The summit will take place on June 6-10 under the theme "Building a Sustainable, Resilient and Equitable Future."
The letter addressed to the Peruvian Head of State indicates that the convening of the region's leaders underscores what binds countries together —their commitment to economic prosperity, security, human rights, and dignity for the people of the Western Hemisphere.
"Together, in Los Angeles, we will tackle both our greatest challenges and opportunities, including with respect to climate change, health security, and equitable growth and recovery," the document reads.
Moreover, Mr. Biden indicates that he has entrusted former Senator Christopher Dodd and former Representative Debbie Mucarsel-Powell to be his Special Advisors for the Summit of the Americas and lead his efforts on this meeting.
"I am confident that this Ninth Summit of the Americas will serve as an opportunity to make progress on the greatest challenges in our region and work together towards our shared goals," he stated.
"I look forward to your participation and welcoming you in the beautiful city of Los Angeles this June," the U.S. leader said in the letter.
