Peru's Prime Minister visits Amazon Operational Command facilities

20:17 | Putumayo (Loreto region), Mar. 28.

Peruvian Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzen and Defense Minister Walter Astudillo visited the facilities of the Amazon Operational Command to coordinate joint interventions with civil and military authorities.

During work visits to the Jungle Battalion No. 83 Gueppi; the Glorioso Ayacucho Base No. 3; and El Estrecho Naval Detachment, the Executive Branch's authorities addressed the joint actions carried out by the Joint Command of the Armed Forces (CCFFAA) in the region of Loreto.

The Cabinet chief thanked the CCFFAA and the National Police of Peru for the selfless work they carry out in Putumayo, a province where a state of emergency has been declared to stop criminal activities by organizations dedicated to illicit drug trafficking, illegal mining, and related crimes.

"I am proud of each of the officers and staff that make up this force. Respect for national sovereignty and integrity cannot be stained by any foreign force," Adrianzen remarked.

The Amazon Operational Command carries out joint military actions and operations to fight illicit drug trafficking, illegal mining, illegal logging, and other illicit activities.

Last February, the Executive Branch extended the state of emergency for 60 days in the provinces of Putumayo and Mariscal Ramon Castilla, in Loreto region.
