The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, on Friday highlighted that her administration has repositioned Peru on the global stage, where it is now seen as a nation committed to dialogue, integration, respect for democratic order, and the promotion of clear rules for investment.

The Head of State made these remarks during the ceremony marking the 204th anniversary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diplomats' Day held at the Torre Tagle Palace in Lima.

"Together with the Foreign Affairs Ministry, we have repositioned Peru as a relevant and reliable actor, strengthening our diplomatic relations at the neighborhood, regional, and global levels," Mrs. Boluarte expressed.

"We demonstrated this at APEC Peru 2024, where we were excellent hosts and did a thorough and successful job," she added.

The top official noted that, in a context of profound changes on the global stage, Peruvian diplomacy reaffirms its strategic role in defending principles such as peace and respect for international law.

Likewise, the President stated that Peru remains open to responsible investment —one that protects the environment while fostering growth and well-being.

"Because we clearly understand that this is a key path to foster the development that our fellow citizens long for," she underlined.

Furthermore, the Head of State stated that her administration is firmly committed to promoting investment, strengthening trade ties, and opening up new opportunities for cooperation to advance the country's development, directly benefiting all Peruvian families.

"Part of our strategy is to boost the national economy, create more jobs, and consolidate Peru's presence in highly competitive international markets. It is our duty to seek stronger alliances that promote the well-being and progress of our country," she emphasized.

In that context, the President highlighted the importance of continuing to strengthen relations with sister nations with which Peru shares historical ties, such as Japan.

"Peru and Japan, across the Pacific Ocean, have built a bridge of dialogue, exchange, and trust that spans more than 150 years. Though separated by vast waters, we are united by a shared vision and mutual respect. Thus, both countries have made the Pacific the perfect setting to jointly forge the path toward development," she expressed.

Moreover, the top official highlighted the importance of strengthening relations with Indonesia, which is the ninth-largest Asian economy in terms of trade with Peru.

"We plan to conclude negotiations with them on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which will open up new trade and investment routes," she noted.

At the ceremony, the President was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer Salcedo and other high-ranking diplomatic officials.
