Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra has accepted the resignation of Interior Minister Mauro Medina.

"I've accepted Interior Minister's stepping down given the seriousness of the events. We won't give up in the frontal fight against corruption," the statesman said via Twitter.

Following the news of Cesar Hinostroza's fleeing to Spain, the Council of Ministers gave a press conference to inform of the magistrate's situation.

Precisely during this event, on Wednesday, Medina tendered his resignation to the Head of State.

According to Prime Minister Cesar Villanueva, the former Supreme Court judge left the Inca country in an illegal and clandestine manner on October 7.
