Meet Guido Bellido: Peru's new Prime Minister

Peru Libre party Congressman Guido Bellido was sworn in as Prime Minister of President Pedro Castillo's administration.

The brand-new Cabinet chief is a lawmaker elected by Cusco region voters.

He was born in Chumbivilcas Province —one of the areas most affected by mining-related social conflicts.

Bellido —who is secretary general of the ruling party in Cusco— was born in Livitaca district in August 1979. He currently resides in the area.

According to the résumé submitted to the National Election Board (JNE), he worked as coordinator at the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI).

Bellido holds a bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering from the Universidad National de San Antonio Abad del Cusco (National University of San Antonio Abad of Cusco). He also worked in a private company.
