Koo, an Indian micro-blogging platform like Twitter, has launched its Spanish-language version and invites Latin Americans to join its platform, encouraging them to express themselves not only in English but also in their mother tongue.

"We are now starting to talk to the media in Spanish (speaking) countries, and that will be our way of getting the word out," Koo Co-founder Mayank Bidawatka said, quoted by Peru's Andina news agency.

India's Twitter rival is also available in over 20 global languages to enable the platform to be used by a much larger audience in their respective native languages.

According to Bidawatka, the proprietary feature called Multi-Language Kooing allows users to post simultaneously in several languages and further emulates Koo's goal to drive digital inclusion.

"Users can view their posts and use the translation feature to read comments or posts in a language of their choice. This also helps creators expand their reach beyond their existing languages. For instance, a Spanish (language) user will now be able to speak to a Brazilian," he stated.

The company's co-founder remarked that, as a platform, Koo is probably the best alternative to Twitter with very immersive language experiences.

"We are taking Koo to the rest of the world, including Latin America, to enable users to communicate in a language of their choice. We focus on what matters most in a social media or blogging platform –the end user," he said.

Platform poised for flock of new users

Bidawatka underscored that, with a mass exodus on Twitter, as users find themselves unhappy with Elon Musk's unpopular changes and aggressive policies, Koo is poised for a flock of new users to its platform.

"As a testament to the platform's growth, Koo has amassed two and a half million new users within 10 days of its launch in Brazil," he explained.

Twitter Integration

The company has made it easier than ever to migrate, with the ability for users to import tweets and follower lists from Twitter to a Koo account, eliminating the need to start from ground zero.

Differentiated features

Users can also enjoy a 500-character limit, threads, the ability to upload as many as 10 images and videos as large as 512MB to their posts, edit post functionality, up to 10 profile photos, private messaging, and the option to save Koos (posts) for easy access at a later time.

Besides, Koo has retained the core functionality users are used to with micro-blogs.

Additional new features users will discover with Koo include a completely free self-verification process to prove that they are human.
