TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew will officially arrive in Peru for the first time to participate in the events to be held within the framework of the
"For the first time in the history of TikTok, its CEO will be in Peru," Peru's Senior Official for APEC Renato Reyes stated, referring to the participation of the Singaporean businessman in the upcoming event.
Shou Zi Chew will participate in the
APEC CEO Summit 2024. It will be
held in Lima and bring together world leaders to seek solutions to the urgent problems facing the Asia-Pacific region.
Reyes noted that the TikTok CEO will participate in the APEC Business Leaders' Summit, where "approximately 1,000 entrepreneurs from the Asia-Pacific region are expected to attend."
Confirmed attendees include JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon and Google Government Affairs & Public Policy Global Head Karan Bhatia, among other business leaders.
"The impact that APEC has on Peru, from the point of view of adequately positioning its foreign policy in the Asia-Pacific region, also contributes to the creation of spaces for investment and trade in practice," Reyes underlined.
The diplomat added this is because world leaders "are accompanied by a significant number of businesspeople."
Regarding this group, he mentioned that they have their own dynamics within the APEC CEO Summit, whose agenda is interesting, which facilitates networking opportunities and business routes development.
According to Statista, TikTok's global revenue has been on the rise since its inception in 2017, when it recorded US$63 million. In the 2023 report, the platform reached revenues of US$14.345 billion.

Shou Zi Chew is a Singaporean businessman, who began his professional career at Goldman Sachs in London, United Kingdom, where he worked in investment banking.
Afterwards, he worked at DST Global, where he participated in the financing of companies such as Alibaba and Xiaomi.
Shou Zi Chew became Xiaomi's chief financial officer in 2015, playing a key role in the company's global expansion and initial public offering in 2018.
In March 2021, he was appointed chief financial officer (CFO) of ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, and shortly thereafter assumed the position of CEO at TikTok.
