Former President Alberto Fujimori on Friday sent a message of support to his daughter Keiko, who
, as ordered by a Peruvian Judge two days ago.
Via Twitter, 80-year-old Fujimori indicated he regrets having introduced his daughter to the world of politics and asked her for forgiveness.
Keiko served as Peru's First Lady, Congresswoman and ran twice for President, being defeated in the run-offs.
"I can only hope that I'm strong enough and alive to see you —just like on that day— free (and) next to my little granddaughters," he posted.
After having fled to Japan and traveling to Chile —from where he was extradited to Peru— the patriarch was sentenced for crimes against human rights and corruption committed during his term in office.
