Peruvian foods' position strengthened in European markets

14:27 | Lima, Feb. 12.

Peru is one of the key food suppliers in the world, featuring more than a dozen of products such as asparagus, beans, quinoa, among others.

Likewise, its exports saw a 10% increase in 2017 —a figure that is expected to rise.

The so-called Peruvian superfoods create great expectations in international markets.

According to PromPeru Exports Director Luis Torres, the Superfoods Peru international campaign made superfood exports increase 10% last year.

"It was a unique campaign that had a good start in 2017, and we expect to sustain said results this year," he told El Peruano official gazette.

Torres explained Fruit Logistica Fair —taking place in Berlin (Germany)— has cemented its position as the world's leading fresh produce platform for the dissemination of Peruvian products.

That explains why the second phase of Superfoods Peru had a successful outcome at this fair, which ran from February 7 to 9 in Germany, bringing 300 Peruvian entrepreneurs together.

The Peruvian delegation raised US$230 million in deals —a higher figure compared to 2017. Likewise, they made new business contacts at the event.
