Peru's coach Ricardo Gareca said Inca athletes are mentally strong, as he is confident the national team will show a good performance at the 2018 World Cup.
"We've always said Peruvian players are mentally strong […]," Gareca expressed.
"We are convinced that we will see a positive response [from the national athletes] to the challenge emerging from playing the World Cup," he added.
The 59-year-old coach also pointed out the Inca squad will —in March— start to work on a strategy to be prepared for soccer's most important event held every four years.
"Although there will be hard teams to face at the World Cup, I think we can do a great job," he said at a press conference.
went on to add the Peruvian squad is expected to play at least 4 friendly matches
before traveling to Russia.
As is known, Peru will make its appearance at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia
against Denmark on June 16. Afterwards, the national team will face France (June 21). Later, it will play Australia (June 26).
