After having grabbed gold medals, a delegation of 4 Peruvian students clinched victory at the Ibero-American Mathematical Olympiad recently held in Buenos Aires (Argentina).
Upon arrival at Peru's Lima-based Jorge Chavez International Airport, national participants were greeted —with applause and cheers— by their relatives and teachers.
Led by tutor Jonathan Farfan, the Peruvian squad was composed of students:
Jemisson Coronel Baldeon (17), Renzo Rodrigo Balcazar Tapia (15),
Daniel Marcelo Benavides Quispialaya (15) and Diego Enrique Lázaro Cusihuaman (16).
The competition
The Olympiad was held in 2 competition-days. Likewise, each assessment was composed of three questions to be solved within a 4-and-a-half-hour period.
