Remedial class plans will be implemented in Peruvian regions to make up for the days lost to a recent teacher's strike, Education Minister Marilu Martens assured Friday.

As is known, educators launched a strike to show their opposition to the Education Ministry, as they refused to go through a performance assessment process.

It must be noted the strike lasted —in some regions— up to 56 days.

At a Congress interpellation session, Martens noted that all Regional Education Directorates have already sent their remedial class plans to the Executive Branch.

In this sense, the Ministry currently monitors plans implementation, so that students do not lose the present scholastic year and to avoid further problems.

Thus, pupils are bound to attend classes on Saturdays, national holidays, and —in some circumstances— to extend their school year thru March 31, 2018.
