Peru's Transport and Communications Minister Martin Vizcarra on Thursday affirmed his sector will require an investment worth US$2.663 billion for reconstruction.

"It is a preliminary figure, but it is an estimation of what is required to rebuild highways, bridges and other [infrastructures], mainly those located in the country's northern areas," Vizcarra stated.

The cabinet member noted this amount comprises awarded and non-awarded highways, as well as national and regional roads.

Remarks were made during his presentation at the Reconstruction Challenges Forum, organized by the Association for the Promotion of National Infrastructure (AFIN).
