Education Minister Marilu Martens on Monday traveled to Peru's northern Piura region, where she leads government efforts to assist people affected by natural disaster.
As is known, the South American country is currently at the mercy of heavy rains and floods.
Minister Martens was appointed by the Executive Power to oversee aid delivery for locals.
First, she visited the field hospital set up in the region by the national Army. At the site, affected children and adults are taken care of.
Later, the Education portfolio head talked to locals with the purpose of learning about their priorities, so the government will meet their needs.
Finally, she noted some 3,400 families had settled at temporary shelters as at Thursday.
