10:53 | Vatican City State, Mar. 19.
Pope Francis has expressed his sympathy for the victims of devastating floods that have struck Peru over the past days.
"I want to assure my closeness to the beloved people of Peru," the Argentine pontiff was quoted as saying by Vatican Radio.
He continued: "I pray for the victims and for those who are committed to providing relief."
Remarks were made after he recited the Angelus prayer in the Vatican City earlier on Sunday.
As is known, Peru is currently being hit by natural disasters as a result of heavy rains, overflowing rivers and floods affecting citizens mainly in the northern and central areas of the country.
