La Fuerza Aérea del Perú (FAP) trasladó hasta el momento a más de 1,400 personas en el puente aéreo entre Chiclayo, Piura, Trujillo y Lima, instaurado en la víspera para ayudar a las personas de esas regiones donde las carreteras resultaron afectadas por las torrenciales lluvias.
More than 1,400 victims have been transported, via airlift, to different parts of the country so far, Peru's Air Force informed on Friday.
The mission resumed early on Friday, bringing people from northern Peru to the capital city. Today's first flight arrived from Piura at 11 AM, carrying victims from Trujillo and Chiclayo.
According to Air Force General Luis Gonzales, the humanitarian airlift was done by Boeing 737-200, Antonov AN-32 and C-27J Spartan aircrafts, which are available to assist the population until the emergency is over.
Aircraft crew members and officials providing aid have been scheduled different work shifts to that end.
On the first day, some 550 citizens were transported through routes involving cities Piura, Tumbes, Chiclayo, Trujillo and Lima. Passengers included men, women and children.
Moreover, Air Force has launched the Lima-Jauja-Lima route to transport stranded people following Carretera Central (Central Highway) closure.
